How to get the First Impression Response you Want - Part 2 “Feel”

Feel is another factor that can be the difference between a once off or return patient. 

Part 2 - FEEL 

The initial feeling you get when you walk into any space will generally be the one that sticks with you when it comes time to decide on whether to return or not. 


When we are talking about a medical or dental environment the feeling your patients get when they come through the door is extremely important as you want them to feel as comfortable as possible. 


Comfort (and return patients) can be easily achieved by taking the following into consideration: 


Equipment - make sure your equipment is up to date, there is nothing worse than sitting in a dentist chair that looks like it has come from the 1920’s! 


Create a warm/ inviting but also stylish/ exclusive space with the use of quality finishes including warm paint colours, creative flooring and comfortable furniture. 


Items such as televisions in a waiting area are not only great vessels for marketing but also give waiting patients something to take their mind off the visit! If TV’s are not possible in your waiting area dues to space or budget magazine racks are also a cost effective way to provide reading material. 


Kids areas are perfect for waiting children (and parents!). When designing your kids area we always make sure it is close enough so children can be watched by their parents while playing but also far enough away so they are not disrupting other patients. If space and budget accommodates the use of timber slat screens can also provide privacy and become a striking feature in any reception space (this also helps to hide the toys that have been thrown around).  


Another creature comfort we are commonly asked for is the water station. Gone are the days when the giant plastic upturned bottle sitting in your reception area is acceptable, so what are the options? 

Filtered taps are a stylish way to provide water to your patients. With the option of chilled and ambient temperatures this is sure to suit everyone. 

These can then be mounted into joinery in order to hide the equipment and give you a place to store supplies like cups and a bin.
